Louise believes that yoga is for every body, regardless of age, body type, gender, or personal background. Greatly influenced by the teachings of Guruji BKS Iyengar and her main teacher Dr. Yogananth Andiappan, she sees her dharma (life purpose) as promoting self-love and sharing her knowledge to inspire more people to practice yoga and enjoy its benefits.
With a solid foundation in yoga training, Louise has completed multiple certifications from the International Yoga Academy including a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2013, a 300-Hour Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2014, and a 100-Hour Pre-natal Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2016. Her commitment to continuous learning is reflected in workshops with esteemed instructors like Kino Macgregor and Shri H. S. Arun, as well as a transformative session on Mind and Chakra Awakening.
Teaching since 2015, Louise’s yoga profile reflects her diverse expertise in both Yin and Yang practices, allowing her to cater to a wide range of student needs and preferences. Her proficiency in Yin-based practices emphasizes destressing, meditation, and breathwork, creating a calming environment that encourages mindfulness, relaxation, and connection to your deeper self. In contrast, her Yang-based classes such as Hatha, Power, and Vinyasa, focus on building strength, flexibility, and dynamic movement, providing students with a more vigorous and energizing experience. This balanced approach enables Louise to offer a holistic yoga experience, addressing both the physical and mental aspects of well-being, and making her a versatile instructor capable of guiding practitioners through various stages of their yoga journey.
A highlight of Louise’s yoga journey is her active involvement and leadership within the yoga community. She served as the Volunteer Coordinator of the Andiappan Yoga Community from November 2015 to March 2020, overseeing all on-ground activities and liaising with project leaders regarding ongoing programs. Additionally, as the Project Leader for AYC’s Overseas Workers Program from June 2014 to March 2020, she taught regularly, guided new teachers, and arranged class schedules across different locations in Hong Kong, showcasing her commitment to supporting the yoga community.
Louise has also contributed significantly to the Asana International Yoga Journal by authoring articles that simplify yoga poses into step-by-step tutorials. Her writing explores each pose’s Sanskrit name, benefits, contraindications, major muscles involved, and variations, reflecting her dedication to making yoga accessible for all practitioners.
In addition to her teaching and writing, Louise has been actively involved in large-scale public classes at wellness events such as IRIS, further showcasing her commitment to sharing the transformative power of yoga with a broader audience.
